“Separate and Rotate” means keeping all dogs/animals 100% separated from each other at all times. You can keep each dog in a separate room or secured area. This can be done using physical barriers such as baby gates, playpen fencing, dog crates, and visual barriers such as furniture or a wall. This also means rotating one dog at a time to go outside into the yard or to have free time walking around your home while all other animals are secured in a space out of physical reach or visibility. Do you agree to cooperate and use the “Separate and Rotate” process if you have other animals in the home? *

We will provide anything you need to do this as well as offer guidance on where in your home to set up needed barriers. We need you to agree to implementing this process if you welcome one of our dogs into your home.

Please describe in detail the various training styles, methods, tactics, tools, etc. you have used with your own dogs and any previous Foster Dogs or elsewhere (through other rescue organizations). Please be as detailed as possible so we can get a better understanding of your perspectives and experience level. *

We use LIMA-based training methods which include a combination of force-free, positive reinforcement, cooperative care, among other things. We also never use Prong Collars or E-Collars (Shock Collars). We may approve the use of a Slip Lead on a Foster Dog until we know more about their behavior, personality, and any potential issues (such as slipping out of a harness). Do you agree to using the training methods we offer and recommend to you as well as approved trainers? * Yes! While I am away from home, I agree to keep my Foster Dog in a properly enclosed Crate so they are 100% safe and secure at all times.

I agree to have a Security Camera (provided by the Rescue) set up to monitor my Foster Dog when I am not home. I agree to keep my Foster Dog indoors as if they were my own family pet.

I agree to give them love, affection, care and attention. I further agree to be mindful of reading my Foster Dog's body language for information about them at any given time, and taking the necessary measures to meet their needs in that moment.

I agree to NEVER use a Prong or E-Collar (Shock Collar) on my Foster Dog. In approved instances, I may be provided with a Slip Lead for temporary use in the immediate days following my Foster Dog's release from the shelter.

I further agree to stop using the Slip Lead and switch over to only using a Harness when requested by the Rescue. I understand that the Rescue's approved training style uses a combination of force-free, positive reinforcement, cooperative care, and LIMA-based methods.

I agree to adhere to this and follow the guidance from the Rescue, virtual training courses, and approved certified trainers AT ALL TIMES, even if I have previously used different training styles or tools with my own dogs or previous Foster Dogs.

Please Note: We also NEVER EVER use Prong Collars or E-Collars (Shock Collars). In the rare instance, we may approve the use of a Slip Lead TEMPORARILY on a Foster Dog until we know more about their behavior, personality, and any potential issues (such as slipping out of a harness)

I will NEVER allow my Foster Dog to be in any sort of fighting, breeding or cruelty situation, and I agree to keep my Foster Dog SOLELY in my approved care.

I agree to keep my Foster Dog leashed and collared at all times while outside. While indoors, a collar with a name tag will be worn AT ALL TIMES by my Foster Dog.

In some instances, I understand I may also be provided with an Apple AirTag and/or a Fi GPS Collar for additional safety and security. I agree to keep all tracking devices on my Foster Dog AT ALL TIMES.

I agree to 100% avoid taking my Foster Dog to any dog park, to any areas that allow off-leash dogs, or to overly crowded spaces with a lot of people and/or a lot of dogs. I agree to adhere to this protocol EVEN if my Foster Dog is "dog-friendly". I understand the EXTREME importance of avoiding dog parks and off-leash dogs at ALL times.

I understand that my Foster Dog will take time settle into a new environment and agree to consider to the 3-3-3 Rule: it takes 3 days for a dog to begin to feel safe (adjusting to surroundings), 3 weeks for their true personality/behavior to present itself (begin training and continued bonding), and up to 3+ months for a dog to feel comfortable and secure in my home (continued training and new experiences--aka socializing).

Please Note: Socialization does not mean for your Foster Dog to interact with humans or other animals; it means for them to become more acclimated to the human world and build confidence in the environment around them!

During the Decompression Process, I'm aware of the possibilities of various behavioral or emotional issues presenting themselves. This may include, but is not limited to: barking, stomping, urinating or defecating indoors or inside of the crate, destruction of furniture, crying or whimpering, not wanting to go in crate, sound sensitivity, fear of objects or people, avoidance of certain things, etc. I understand that this is part of the process and part of what I am committing to helping my Foster Dog manage and cope with. I agree to work through these issues with the support of the Rescue, access to virtual training courses, working with certified trainers, etc. as needed.

I agree to provide pictures and videos of my Foster Dog in a timely manner when requested by the Rescue. I further agree to take videos of specific requests related to assessing/capturing behavior or body language cues.

I understand that my Foster Dog may have a largely unknown history and the Rescue makes no claims, warranties or guarantees about any dog's behavior, breed, previous history, and/or temperament. I waive all rights and claims against the Rescue regardless of the expense or damages incurred during the entire duration of fostering.

Upon my Foster Dog's arrival into my possession, I understand I take on ALL legal ownership of the dog until my Foster Agreement has expired and the dog has been released from my care at a previously MUTUALLY AGREED upon time. I will not pursue legal action against the Rescue and will hold them harmless and release liability in the event that any injuries to myself, other persons, other animals, or damages to property arise.

I understand that in the rare occurrence of an incident, I will be held legally responsible for all circumstances arising from the incident.

I understand this is a serious commitment, and I agree to be in control of my Foster Dog to the very best of my abilities at all times. This includes using the suggested and recommended tools for safety and security at the appropriate times. This may include using a Waist Leash, Bungee Leash, Slip Lead, Long 20ft+ Leash, Security Camera, Muzzle, Carabiner Clips, Double-Leashed Harness, or any other items deemed necessary by the Rescue.

I understand that I will be reimbursed for approved expenses for my Foster Dog's needs. This includes food, necessary supplies and veterinary care at a pre-approved partnered vet. I understand that all purchases must be approved beforehand, and that a photo of the receipt must be sent (via text or email). I further understand that I will be reimbursed for expenses on a Weekly or Monthly basis. *
